Holland Opera, new opera since 1994
Holland Opera was founded in 1994 and produces new opera for children, youth adults and large scale site specific performances. Per year Holland Opera produces four productions and stages over 100 performances.
Holland Opera resides in a historical industrial building in Amersfoort with a capacity of 220 / 300 seats.
Every year, the Treaty of Utrecht invites the company to create a new opera or modern interpretation of an 'old' opera on a specific location, often part of the Cultural Heritage Programme of the Netherlands.
It’s the aim of Holland Opera not only to attract an audience by opera, but also to move, overwhelm and win this audience for life. Most of the time the opera’s are newly written and sometimes rather experimental, but they always reach a large audience.
