A discarded donkey playing the accordion, a hoarse hen with a violin, an old dog playing the saxophone and a cat playing the drums. Four animals together form a colorful company. In the eyes of people, the animals are too old or no longer suitable to do their work. Full of energy, they embark on a musical adventure.
After the very successful Reinaert de V. production, Holland Opera and Duda Paiva Company are working together again. Two-time Gouden Griffel winner Simon van der Geest writes the libretto again. This time the music is composed by Lucas Wiegerink. It is directed by Pim Veulings.
In this version the animals talk with their instruments. The roles of the robbers are sung by top singers from Holland Opera.
